Parent UpdateHello, Kindergarten Parents!
Thank you for all of the donations for our Fall Fest basket and booth! We hope you can make it to one of the best EPA events of the year! Don't forget to turn in your child's field trip permission slip and money by November 30! Please see the information below to find out more about what we are learning about this month. Reading: This month in reading, scholars will make inferences and draw conclusions about the structure and elements of poetry and provide evidence from text to support their understanding, recognize sensory details, respond to rhythm and rhyme in poetry through identifying a regular beat and similarities in word sounds, analyze, make inferences, and draw conclusions about author’s purpose, make inferences based on cover, title, illustrations, and plot, make connections to own experiences/to other texts, and describe characters and actions. Writing: This month in writing, scholars will learn how to use tools such as checklists, to help them write the best they can, learn how vowels help writers spell the middle of words, use a vowel chart that can help them identify and come up with the right vowels to put on their paper, learn how writers rely heavily on words they know in a snap in order to make their writing more readable, learn how to include storytelling words in their writing, transition their stories from drawings to sentences that tell their stories, understand the importance of rereading often to check that their writing makes sense, learn how to write a little then reread a little, switching from a reader to a writer, learn how to draw and talk about what they need in order to tell their story, and learn that writers make sentences. Math: This month in math, we will learning about 3D shapes and where we see these shapes in real life. Phonics/PA: Our letters of the month are S, F, and R.
